Rare Antique Porcelain Jug by David Johnston of Bordeaux

A wonderful and rare antique French jug by David Johnston Bordeaux from the early to mid 1800s. Fine earthenware at almost 200 years old. It has the most beautiful form with scroll handle and wide lip with an intricate transfer print of vines and birds around the edges and handle. Around the body are French village landscape scenes.

This piece is in remarkable condition given its age. It is still solid enough to be used as the glaze is interior glaze is still pristine. However, there is a chip to the lip of the jug as shown. As a decorative piece this imperfection is not visible from the side as shown and from the imperfect side it adds character and depth with a feeling of the true age of the piece.
